Speculation of Fenix and Pentagon Jr. WWE bound in 2019

Speculation of Fenix and Pentagon Jr. WWE bound in 2019

Last week, it was reported the brothers have told promoters dates they committed to in 2019 were now in question. In an update to this story, it appears neither brother is accepting bookings beyond 2018 at the moment.

“The main thing is that both are not taking any dates in 2019,” wrote Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer. “Which is usually a sign of going to WWE.”

MLW pulled the brothers from an upcoming show in October amidst the rumors. They have both been booked for Impact’s Bound for Glory show that month, however. If the brothers planned on committing to any other promotion, they’d probably still be able to accept bookings considering the attitude towards exclusivity currently exhibited by non-WWE promoters such as Impact and MLW.

The Lucha Bros contracts with LU contain opt-out clauses following this season. Both would have to wait for 6-months after the season airs to debut for another promotion, however.

Both of the Lucha Brothers are a big part of the current indie scene as MLW Tag-Team Champions, Pentagon involved in the World Heavyweight Championship in Lucha Underground and Impact Wrestling, and being a major presence in most indie promotions. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Pentagon Jr. Reveals if WWE Has Contacted Him

During a recent exclusive interview with Fightful, independent Superstar Pentagon Jr. confirmed whether he has had any contact with WWE amidst rumors the company wants to sign him and his brother Ray Fenix.

Pentagon Jr. has made a name for himself competing all over the world in promotions such as Impact Wrestling, Lucha Underground, AAA, CMLL and The Crash. He is also scheduled to face Kenny Omega at the upcoming All In show that is being produced by Cody [Rhodes] and The Young Bucks.

When asked, Pentagon Jr. revealed he has not been contacted by WWE- despite many believing he has been approached by the company. He alluded to being open to an offer, depending on what the circumstances of a proverbial contract would be.

Here is what he had to say:

“I have yet to be contacted by them, they have not contacted me personally. [As far as taking a WWE deal] I don’t know. I would have to take a look at the offer and see what’s out there before committing to an answer. For now, I am very happy with the work I have now. I’m extremely grateful to Impact, to AAA, to CMLL, to The Crash, to Lucha Underground, everybody who gives me work on a weekly basis. I’m very happy with where I stand, but WWE has never contacted me personally. We’ll see what happens in the future.”
